OK, OK. So I know this book isn’t straight up a business book. However, the ideas in The Happiness Advantage are revolutionary and will absolutely benefit you in all aspects of your life; Especially in your business. I’ve been listening to the audiobook version this past week and here’s what I gained…
The Happiness Advantage?
So firstly what is the happiness advantage? And how can it help you become a more successful business owner/ person?
Well, the main principle of this book combats the regular belief that we need to work hard in life to achieve something, even if that means making sacrifices with your health and social support. Then, once we achieve the goals we set out for, we will be happy.
The happiness advantage suggests, (with a lot of evidence to back it up) that this is in fact the opposite way around. Happiness actually is a precursor to success. Being positive and optimistic about our goals and simply enjoying the process with those around us is essential to us reaching our goals.
The happiness advantage will completely change your mindset as to the way you look at the world. Shawn Achor is a highly respected doctor in the field of positive psychology. He backs up everything with loads of interesting studies within the book. Also, many examples of the years he spent helping businesses become happier and more productive. Seeing them reach more satisfaction and better success along the way.
With all the evidence Anchor gives, it’s hard to see the world any other way after reading this!!
Actionable steps:
Within this book, Achor gives seven actionable principles, he discovered are key areas to increasing your positivity and ultimately your success capabilities.
These are 7 principles he discovered to be fundamental to increasing happiness in anybody wanting to improve their state of well being. These principles will teach you actionable activities you can do to feel good and more at ease. Another one will teach you to become more productive by playing around with the energy required for different tasks. Also, arguably most importantly, to improve the quality of your social network.
With each principle in The Happiness Advantage you’ll learn its importance with the use of studies and sometimes hilarious stories. You’ll learn how this area may be negatively impacting your life. Then Achor will give you actionable ways in which you can improve this area of your life. To see things more positively.
Money Your Concern Rating:
Beginner Entrepreneur 10/10
Advanced Entrepreneur 10/10
Now if your currently reading the first book review of mind, you’ll think this rating is completely full of s***. But trust me when I say this book is amazing and an absolute must read for anybody. I rarely give even a ‘9’ on most books.
Not only will this book help you to become more productive and efficient in the business world. It will improve your personal and family life too.
As with anything, the principles in this book take practice to learn and work on. But with a small amount of time you will begin to see the world in a more positive light and more opportunities for success will come beaming out at you. Because you will be paying attention to it more.
I’ve been listening to The Happiness Advantage audiobook this week and had to listen to it again straight after. You can’t afford to miss these principles. Trust me, you won’t regret reading this.
