Do we actually need the Rat Race?

Do we actually need the Rat Race?

If you’ve been following my progress or have read a few of my posts, you’ll know I am very much striving for escaping the rat race. I fear that one day I’ll have to accept what I have and live a life of mediocrity. Living paycheck to paycheck. So I’m running from the rat race as hard as I can. But do we actually need the rat race for a functioning society? And what would happen if I inspired thousands of people to leave their jobs to live a life of freedom?

What’s the rat race?

The rat race refers to the 9-5 life that most of us live. We have to work for money and therefore go to our jobs. Then, spend our income on living. By the end of the month we have nothing left and therefore the cycle repeats. These people work and trade all their time for money until they are old enough to retire in which they are too old to fully enjoy the free time they do have.

This paycheck to paycheck life is one of which I am trying to avoid. I am looking for ways to gain passive income and invest my earnings. This way i’ll no longer need to trade my time for money and I’ll have the freedom to live my life the way I want. The whole point of Money Your concern is to inspire and teach others who are interested in doing the same.

Do we need the rat race?

Well, in short, yes. A functioning society relies upon many different jobs. We need healthcare professionals to allow us to live longer and more healthily. We need government and council workers to improve and maintain how our society is run. Public services such as police workers and firefighters are enormously important for our safety and security. And the list goes on…

Imagine if everybody decided to stop working these jobs and live a life of complete freedom. The world would turn into a disaster. Many jobs are hugely important to society and realistically, there is a limit to the level of freedom you could give to these jobs. So although these workers accept they won’t entirely live in freedom, these jobs will carry reward and fulfilment in the importance and usefulness of what they do. Any career path that makes the world a better place is an amazing thing to do with your life. This website absolutely won’t discourage anyone to embark on one of these careers.

So what’s the point?

My dream is to help people to free themselves of the rat race and live a life of financial freedom. So what’s the point of Money Your Concern if we effectively need the rat race for a functioning society?

Well… My goal isn’t so much as to get people to leave their jobs. If they love their job and feel fulfilled, they should keep at it. However, everyone can free up some financial and time stress in their life. And this is where I come in…

With the use of the £1 a day challenge and the Investing and Personal Finance sections of this site, I hope to teach and inspire others about making extra money and to be more responsible with that money.

This way you can find ways in which you can make some extra passive income which will allow you to have more freedom with what you do outside of your work time. If you are unfortunate enough to hate your job, or you dream to live a life on your own terms, this website is equally as useful. The lessons I share on the Money Your Concern website will show you the methods I am using to see the best and most efficient ways of escaping the 9-5 life.
