Thanks for checking out the highlight of day 80 of my £1 a day challenge. On this day, I finally took the leap to get my first form of passive income going. Although, progress will be slow at first, I’m really excited to see how much I can grow my income as an amazon affiliate.

Here’s what happened on day 80…

Today was the end of the monthly period where we get our bonus rewards for completing our daily goals. Thankfully, today Swagbucks awarded me 149 SB’s. I haven’t included these extra points up till now. But I suppose technically, this is passive income received for the hard work I put in throughout the month. Also, today I could better use my time to increase my business prospects. So I settled for this, even though I didn’t complete any surveys today. Along with a couple of search rewards, today I earned 166 SB’s (£1.29) for less than 5 minutes of time spent with Swagbucks.

I had the day off work today, so I spent the day writing up a post for the Money Your Concern website and writing up scripts to record for my upcoming YouTube videos. Along with this, I finally applied to get on to the UK Amazon affiliate programme. This means I can now provide links for products on my content. I will then receive a commission (at no extra cost to the purchaser) for each person who buys from the link. This is my first taste of creating passive income online apart from stock market investing. I look forward to seeing where this takes me.

This is why I chose to start as an Amazon affiliate:

1. I can now recommend and direct you towards products I have found useful to progressing my financial knowledge. Giving me the ability to send you to the right place to buy great books and products that help me.

2. I make around a 5% commission for every purchase through my link. This is at no extra cost to you and therefore seems like a win, win situation.

3. I get this commission for other purchases too. One unique and brilliant thing about the Amazon affiliate scheme is if someone goes onto Amazon through your link and buys anything, you get a commission from all of their Amazon purchases. Not just the actual product I direct you to.

4. Amazon is a brilliant, reliable and safe platform. This is another reason I decided to start with amazon. I know it can be trusted and the links I use will be safe. I can be certain that people clicking through my link will find a genuinely good and reliable service.

More adept and knowledgeable about the affiliate marketing process, I will shift from promoting products on this website, to creating affiliate links on external sites I plan to create outside of this one.
