Can You Own A Business As An Introvert?

Can You Own A Business As An Introvert?

Everybody knows, running a business is hard. It takes a lot of hard work, sacrifice and commitment to get underway. You have to become good at contacting customers and clients. If you are lucky enough to have employees, you need to learn to be confident and efficient at being in charge of them too. So imagine if social interactions aren’t something you are used to. Running a business as an introvert, can be the scariest and most stressful thing.

The hardest part is to make that leap of faith and get started. As an introvert myself, this can be SCARY. You want to do good things with your ideas and make something of yourself yet it’s terrifying to begin. You worry, if you begin this business and start to get traction, then you build up hopes of people following you. What if it becomes overwhelming and you can’t follow through on your promise and you will embarrass yourself. You worry if your friends and family find out your business, what will they think?

So clearly to own a business, you must be an extrovert right?

NOPE! I’m a little more hopeful than that…

I am most definitely an introvert. I’m always the quiet one within a group of people, I like to keep to myself often and even get anxious when around groups of people I don’t know. I’ve dreamed of starting an online business for a couple of years now, striving to achieve financial freedom. Yet every time I had an idea to get excited about, I’d eventually end up putting it off. I’d tell myself it’s not a good idea and it wont work, or I just need to learn more before I begin.

Really, I was just afraid of what others would think. I didn’t want to start out, for people I know to see it and see that it’s terrible. But the truth is everyone will be terrible to begin with. The best way to begin in online business is to simply get started.

Introvert Business Strategy:

One morning at work I was doing another crappy job, scraping mud off of a driveway. Feeling disappointed with my life, I realised I need to do something with my life. So that day I devised the £1 a day challenge. In this challenge I aimed to start making £1 a day online with no excuses. I created this website to share my journey and build routes to start building my income online. Currently still, my only identity on this site is Harry (my first name).

You see, although I am also terrified of failure and being ridiculed by the people around me. I have found a way to do the hard part in online business. I got started. I’m starting my journey anomalously to eradicate the fear of what others will think. I also started with a measly goal of £1 a day to eradicate the fear of failure. You can just get started and let the momentum of what you learn carry you to bigger and better things. The more you learn, the more confident you will become in the online business world.

So if like me, you put your business ideas off and are afraid of what others will think, just start. Think of the easiest way you can get yourself to begin on that journey and grow from there. I promise you, once you begin, you will never look back!!

The Introvert Advantage:

There’s also something else that’s really important to note. Most of the time, introverts may believe that they are at a disadvantage. We can’t approach and talk to others like our extroverted counterparts can. However, we do have something better. Introverts can bring a whole new insight and perspective on certain ideas. Ideas that perhaps nobody has ever thought of. Ideas that could change the world for the better. So all you need to do is to take the smallest step and get started.

Business as an introvert can be one of the most rewarding things, if only you take the leap to embark on the journey.
