Week 4: Creating My First Website

Week 4: Creating My First Website

I can now proudly say that I have a business goal and my first website up and running, to finally take action. I can’t wait to see where this momentum carries me now…

Day 22: Swagbucks Offer

I aimed to get Swagbucks done early today. Luckily, first thing in the morning, a new offer was sent to my mailbox. It offered me 2,500SB’s to deposit and wager £10 on a casino website. Perfect!!

The process was quick and easy. Being as good at gambling as I am at writing blogs, naturally I lost my whole deposit. However, within 30 minutes of waking up today I reached past my daily target; profiting £9.52. Along with a few Swagbuck search rewards for the day my total online earnings today were £9.66.

Day 23: Starting My First Website

I decided to get swagbucks out the way first thing today. Hopefully to give me time to finally get started with my website. This will be the home of all my business ideas and progress so it seems imperative for me to get this started so I can progress!!

After being declined for a few surveys, I finally got accepted for one. This paid 40 SB’s for ‘8 mins’ of work. I know all too well that this wouldn’t be the case; instead taking almost 20!! This stuff really makes me excited to find other, more effective methods of making money online. Although I suppose that’s a good thing.

Thankfully, after the first survey, I found and completed 2 more in quick succession. Along with a quick swagbucks search reward, I reached my £1 goal. Today’s earnings are 130SB’s (£1.01) for around 1 hours work. Time to progress on…

This morning I took the leap. I decided to buy the domain name and web hosting for moneyyourconcern.com. I know it’s not the best webname but I tried so many (100’s) others for them to already be taken. Anyway, I like it, it says to me about taking responsibility for your finances and taking action. This is the main message I want to get across with the website.

Now I just need to learn how to build a website. How hard can it be?!

*Late this evening*

displays my website creation

OK, creating a website is much harder than, I thought…

I thought it’d be as simple as using word and following a tutorial on word. Oh how wrong was I…

There’s so many extra details and links to add and a whole new system in which to do it all. I’m now seeing that this may take a few days to completely put together. As part of my business ideas, I plan to build other websites to explore different methods of online income. I hope this process will become quicker with practice.

Anyway, I seem to be getting the hang of this. After a lot of trial and error (and stress) the site is finally starting to come together to be how I envisaged it. Perhaps once completed, I’ll share my beginners insight into what is helping me most with website creation. Stay tuned.

Day 24: “GET STARTED AND TAKE ACTION”

I’m not sure if this is due to the COVID-19 outbreak causing businesses to close but this week has been very poor for surveys. There’s definitely a significant decrease in the number of surveys and of what there is, their value is poor. All but one survey I saw today offered over 60 SB’s today. I was declined from this one too.

After a few more declined attempts and nothing but ‘waste of time surveys’ left, I gave up on that idea and headed for plan B. The discovery section has saved my skin in this challenge a few times before on this challenge and sure enough it did once again.

Luckily I found an offer for 200 SB’s to sign up for a free trial for a video streaming channel. Along with the points for the failed surveys and a search reward during my website creation research, I passed my daily goal. Today I earned 217 SB’s (£1.69) for around 1hrs worth of frustrating work.

On the other hand, the moneyyourconcern.com website creation is going much more smoothly. I’m definitely starting to get the hang of things and have now created the about and investing pages of the site. I know it probably looks like an amature has made it (that’s because it is) but I’m proud of it. It is a symbol that I am finally taking action to achieve my goals. From there, as I learn, I can always go back to improve my website.

This seems to be cropping up all too often now. Taking action!! It’s something I know I simply needed to do but in reality, it’s so much harder done. But I promise you, from the moment you make a commitment to yourself and set yourself on the right path. If you believe in it, the momentum will keep pushing you forward.

I sure hope, this momentum continues to build. I’m finally feeling ontrack with my life once again and it feels great!!

Once again, thanks for reading my blog. If there’s something you’ve been dreaming to do for some time but have been putting it off, I really hope this site can inspire you to take the leap. Let me know in the comments below if you are or are already taking that leap. I’d love to hear how you are getting on!!

Thanks and remember, JUST GET STARTED AND TAKE ACTION!!

Day 25: The Logic of Luck

Woke up early today to continue on with the website creation. I’m actually starting to enjoy it. Which is a good sign as I know future business plans for the challenge may require having a few websites. Being more efficient and enjoying the process now will definitely put me in better stead down the road.

With the personal finance page done, with the links sorted, the website is now super close to being done. Soon I can finally start posting from day 1 of the challenge online. I know it’s not been the most exciting challenge as of yet but I feel I’m making progress in the right direction and can soon look at other income opportunities.

Speaking of which, later today, I logged into swagbucks. Once again, for some reason, I’m having huge problems with getting onto surveys. I must’ve tried for 8 surveys in a row to be rejected in all of them. I’m not sure what the reason for this is but I just have to be proactive and find another way of completing the challenge.

Luckily I found another deal on swagbucks, offering 850 SB’s to deposit and bet on a gambling website. I know initially it looks like this will lose me money but I noticed, they had a roulette table. If I spent £10 worth of 20p bets on just black or red, average odds would give me £9.47 ((EV being -0.053 per bet) x £0.20= -0.0106 x 50 bets= -£0.53).

Sure enough, I gambled 50, 20p bets on black on the roulette table, ending up with £9.00 exactly. So with 850 SB’s (£6.63) minus the £1 gambling loss, I made £5.63 profit from that deal.

Along with playing videos in the background and 2 swagbucks search rewards (+23SB’s), today’s earnings were £5.81 for around an hour and a half of work.

Day 26: Almost Finished My First Website

Today’s work went pretty smoothly. I got up early to once again work on the website, now completing all the pages. Just a few finishing touches with improving the usability of the site and hopefully tomorrow, I will be live and finally underway with my business venture.

Swagbuck worked great today too. I signed in after a few hours of website work this morning to see a healthy number of well paying (80+ SB) surveys. Fortunately, I got through on two in a row and within 30 minutes I had passed my goal.

Along with 2 swagbucks search rewards for the day, I made 194 SB’s (£1.51). Day 25 complete!!

Day 27: Search Engine Optimization (SEO)

Today I have made even more great progress towards getting my website running. I focused on typing up a few posts in preparation for tomorrow. Where hopefully I can get the site up and running. I’m not the best writer I know but I think I’ll get better with time.

Once the posts were written, I was opened to a realm of online business in which I have only touched on before. Search Engine Optimization (or SEO). This is a way of writing in a way that google will pick up key words to compare your content against your competitors for a certain search phrase.

The better your content is optimized, the higher ranked each page will be and the more traffic you will get to your site. So it is of quite high importance to consider when running a website.

I hope to give you more detail on this subject once I learn more but for now I need to learn for myself. Luckily, there’s a few plug-ins which you can use on your website for help. The one I have been using is YOAST. It is super handy and outlines any floors in your writing and tells you how to correct it.

Anyway, so as you can imagine, I didn’t have much time left at the end of the day to complete today’s challenge. Typically, this had to be one of the days where Swagbucks was to become a pain in the a** again. I tried for at least 6 surveys to be refused for them all. This left me no option but to browse the discover section again…

I found a deal where for a £1 sign up for a month trial paid 300 SB’s. This tactic gives me a £1.34 profit ((300-128)x0.78). The only trouble is that I must remember to cancel the subscription before next month or I will be charged much more.

So along with the search rewards I earned earlier, today’s earnings were £1.74.

Day 28: The Website Is Going Live

I logged on early today to swagbucks to fortunately find a well paying survey. I was accepted onto the survey and within 30 minutes I had made 130 SB’s (£1.01). This was super convenient as today is the day I put my website live.

Just a few finishing touches to the running of the site then I will begin to catch up. I know the website doesn’t look amazing right now but it’s my first attempt and I’m proud of it. It means I have finally got started in my online business journey.

I hope over the years, this website will help many people step outside of their comfort zone and reach their financial goals. I hope the £1 a day challenge will inspire you to take action to reach financial freedom in your own lives.

This marks 4 weeks since my difficult day at work causing me to take action. I can now proudly say that I have a business goal and my first website up and running, to finally take action. I can’t wait to see where this momentum carries me now!!

Thanks for reading, Talk soon.
