Although this book isn’t solely a business book, it does provide a hugely important concept. A concept that I have tried to take on board and implement with Money Your Concern and the £1 a day challenge. In ‘Start Now, Get Perfect Later’ you will learn many amazing lessons about why simply taking the first step is the most important one. You need to try out your ideas, regardless of how ready you feel in order to progress. Here’s what I thought of Rob Moore’s book…
Start Now, Get Perfect Later:
Well, the first thing to mention is that this book is written in such an easy to read format. The book is broken up into lots of very small chapters, each detailing a useful concept about jumping in and also about being more productive, once you are in.
Moore is absolutely hilarious through the book with his no b******t approach to making you commit. He certainly doesn’t sugar coat things…
But this is exactly what you will need to hear. To find the motivation to face your fears and lack of preparedness to embark on your goals. This writing style kept me intrigued throughout the book. I was itching to see what tip he will include in the next chapter.
There are so many great lessons to pick up, such as tips on productivity, to making better decisions.
Here’s 3 of my favourites…
1. Don’t dwell on the past.
Holding onto your past mistakes will only bring doubt into your future performance. The key is to take note of a mistake, learn what you can from it and then let it go. (Just like Elsa…) Then you will learn and grow with each attempt at something. Soon after, you won’t see mistakes and bad experiences but opportunities to learn and improve.
2. The Pomodoro technique.
Breaking large tasks down into small chunks of work, say 25 minute sessions with a 5 minute break in between them is such a great motivator to not see the large task as a mountain but rather steps to be taken one by one. I really enjoyed implementing this into my own work.
3. How to make really hard decisions
In one of the chapters, Moore gives 5 steps to efficiently make a hard decision. The general consensus is, accept that the decision is hard, gain opinions of others who have been through the same situation or have your best interests at heart, then execute to the best of your knowledge. Then not to dwell on this. You’ve made the best decision you could with based on all you currently know.
And in total, there 63 short chapters detailing tips as useful as these. With this many chapters, it’s hard to believe there is any structure to the contents. However, this book flows from one step to the next. The book is entertaining and so easy to read throughout.
Money Your Concern Rating:
10/10 for whoever you are.
I know… I rarely will ever give a 10 out of 10 rating in a book review. But this book has offered me so many useful skills to face my fears and get started with online business. I don’t think it matters who reads this, there is something of use to be found. And to top it all off, the author is authentic and hilarious throughout.
For business specifically, I believe that it is vital that you give this book a read. If you are like me and need a bit more information to feel more confident about getting started, this book will certainly help. However, if you are currently working on your business, you will learn so many useful tips about making better decisions and using your time most efficiently.
