Week 11: Getting My Youtube Channel Running

Week 11: Getting My Youtube Channel Running

Week 11: The best way to improve a skill is by simply doing the task you want to get better at.

Day 71: Welcome to week 11…

Welcome to week 11 of my £1 a day challenge. Last week I fought with the fear of finally putting Money Your Concern out on Youtube. There is now a Youtube channel and I have recorded the audio for my first video. The first upload will be complete by the end of this week and the growth prospects of my brand and my business ideas will be much greater.

Today, on day 71, I once again had a long hard day at work. This has left me with not much energy to continue working on my business afterwards. I can see why so many people get trapped into mediocrity through the 9-5 work life. It is hard to have a hard day of work and then to work even harder after work. However, I am so determined to escape the mediocre life of the rat race. So I spent 3 more hours this evening writing a post and editing the week 10, £1 a day challenge update, which you can check out here.

I was lucky with Swagbucks today. To complete today’s £1 a day goal, I only needed to complete one very well paying survey (along with a couple of search rewards). This took around 20 minutes but by the end I had earned 245 SB’s (£1.91) to complete today’s challenge.

Day 72: Another long day at work…

Another long and busy day at work today, which left me not much time to work on the website afterwards. I however, managed to complete today’s £1 a day challenge. Spread out over 3 surveys and a Swagbucks search reward, I passed today’s goal. Today I earned 134 SB’s (£1.05) for around 1 hour worth of work.

Day 73: Great!!

Swagbucks worked great for me today. I logged on today before work and saw a nice paying survey. This took around 15 minutes to complete, earning me 166 SB’s. Along with the search rewards I earned later, I made 180 SB’s (£1.40) today.

Day 74: Don’t Be So Hard On Yourself!

After a really busy week of work, I really intended to make the most of this weekend to progress this website. However, after a long week, all my mind wanted to do was rest. I really struggled to concentrate on my website work all day. But in the end, I managed to push myself and wrote up one post and got my £1 challenge done.

I find this really frustrating that I can’t just be motivated to do the work all the time. As much as I care about what I am doing it’s still a struggle sometimes. I suppose that’s normal. I had intended to finish off my first Youtube video today but I suppose I can leave that for tomorrow.

It is important for me to remember that I am working hard and there’s credit I need to give myself for that. I also need to remember, in life as well as business is about the journey and not the outcome. So I should allow myself to enjoy working hard and rest when my body tells me to.

Anyway, I managed to complete today’s £1 goal at the very least. After being rejected by all surveys this morning, I flicked back and forth to Swagbucks throughout the afternoon. I completed 2 surveys to pass the goal. Along with a couple of search rewards, today I made 156 SB’s (£1.22) for about 90 minutes of effort.

Day 75: Re-recording For Youtube

I really want to get my first Youtube video out before the end of week 11. But I also want the video to make an impact and set the channel off in the way I want it to be portrayed. Whilst editing the audio I recorded a few days back I wasn’t feeling too happy with the end product. I know the channel is just getting started so perhaps I should just be happy with it and post it. However, I want to provide the best experience I can for you.

So I got up early this morning…

Once again, I drove to a quiet car park, where I rewrote and recorded the first Youtube post. I feel much better about the direction of this video. It certainly will set the channel up better in the way I envisaged it.

However, this does leave me with not a lot of time to edit and get this video out before the end of week 11. Especially with the fact I had another busy day with my family and surfing today. Once I completed today’s £1 a day challenge, this left no time for video editing. I know it will be hard but I promised to you I will get this video out this week. I plan on holding true to that.

The £1 a day challenge didn’t work out smoothly today. All the surveys I went for all day today were declined. This is a nightmare considering I didn’t have much time today in the first place. However, if you care about something, you will always find a way. So in order to hold true to my £1 a day challenge, I found a website trial in the discovery section. After around 2 hours of frustrating effort today on Swagbucks, I earned 156 SB’s (£1.22) to pass today’s challenge.

Day 76: “The end of week 11 looming”

With 2 well paying surveys throughout today, I managed to pass today’s £1 goal. Along with a search reward, today I earned 182 SB’s (£1.42) for around 45 minutes worth of work on Swagbucks.

With the end of week 11 looming, I stayed up late tonight in order to work out how to edit the audio for my Youtube video. I think I have a good idea of what to do now. By the end of tomorrow I will have the first video up and running. Tomorrow, my plan for this will all be revealed.

Day 77: How I Created My First Youtube Video

So, it took me until 01:37 AM but I managed to hold true to my promise. The first post of the Money Your concern Youtube channel is now published. You can check out the Money Your Concern Introduction video here. Where I give a brief overview of what I expect to give and achieve with Money Your Concern in future.

Here’s the process I took to get that first post out there…

So the first thing I focused on was what I wanted to say. On Sunday morning I got up pretty early to drive to a quiet car park to re record for my first post, where I couldn’t be judged. So the morning of recording in my car, I wrote up a whole script of what I wanted to say. This seemed like the least stressful way for me to start, as I wouldn’t have to worry too much about what to say.

Once I completed the recording, I could map out how I wanted the presentation to look. Due to a busy week of work, I stupidly left this until the last evening before my promise was up. However, thanks to tailor brands, I could quite easily create fairly nice looking slides which i pasted over each slide on google drive.

I then needed to work out how to record the audio whilst running the presentation on the screen. To do this, I found a piece of software called Screencast-o-matic. This has a free service where you can record your voice over as you show your screen. I however had to pay for the paid version (about £1.50/month) to allow me to play audio which I uploaded to the computer and then so I can edit the video afterwards. So far, Screencast-o-matic seemed to work fine and seemed worth the price to me, considering I intend to regularly add to the Youtube channel over the coming months.

Once I created and edited the video…

All I had to do then, was add it to Youtube. This is a simple process. I just added a description, thumbnail and tags to the video, to improve traffic and viewer experience. I know my first few videos are not going to be the best but I’m trying to lead by example and just get started. The best way to improve a skill is by simply doing the task you want to get better at.

Thankfully, the £1 a day challenge went smoothly today. I opened up Swagbucks after work today to see that I had earned 200 SB’s for completing a course of 6 recurring surveys over the past 6 weeks. I almost didn’t count this towards the challenge but I suppose that’s just like passive income. Receiving pay for work you have done in advance. So after a search reward, today’s earnings were 205 SB’s (£1.60) for barely any effort on Swagbucks today.

Week 11 complete…

Thanks for checking out week 11 of the £1 a day challenge. I’m very glad I managed to complete this week’s side task I’d set out. I now have a running Youtube channel to expand the Money Your Concern reach, to help and motivate more people to take charge of their financial lives.

Now that I know that I am doing, I hope to add a few more videos next week. I also hope to finally look into opening up an affiliate account with Amazon.
